Web Safety for Teens

To help teens better understand the risk associated with the internet and to educate parents, guardians, and teachers, Sprint has launched a program called 4NetSafety in partnership worth the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the National Education Associations' Health and Information Network. The initiative offers free resources designed to help teens understand the impact of online decisions and the potential dangers they face. The project also intends to help educators implement internet safety education and keep parents informed of potential online risks. The student-focused resources address these issues through comic book-style characters who model safe online practices/ the adult resources include safety tips, suggested activities, and discussion ideas that are designed to accompany the teen resources. The initiative also incorporates a free bimonthly newsletter that gives information on teaching preteens how to navigate the internet safely.  http://www.nsteens.org -eSchool News

FREE Educational Resources

The Federal Resources for Educational Excellence has developed an online portal highlighting teaching and learning resources from federal agencies. The great thing about this site is these resources are free for educational use. One of the newest resources comes from NSF providing educators over 100 visualizations (animations) relative to exploring the Earth. This site can be found at http://www.free.ed.gov/.
